Dr. Zahid Gilani (IR Expert):  The government has launched a huge anti-polio drive to save our future generation from this disease. However, social society and other segments of the society should respond to this drive or campaign to make it a success. Radio Pakistan is also doing great job by highlighting this issue tot eh masses. The elders in communities should step forward to sensitize the people about the importance of polio vaccination to children. Clean and hygienic environment is must to keep polio and other diseases away from our society. Polio workers are going streets to streets and knocking door to door to give doses of polio vaccination to children. They must be appreciated for their day and night hard work to save my country from this disease.

Dr Tariq (PIMS): It is a great development that the government has launched anti-polio vaccination campaign. But the government can only launch anti-polio campaign but the government alone cannot make this drive as a success. Social elders and will have to palye their due role eradicating the disease from the society and to make anti-polio campaign successful. Ulmas, clerics, parents and every segment of society will have to play their due role in this regard. The biggest reason for polio spread in Pakistan is unchecked cross border movement from Afghanistan. Therefore, there should be polio test at every entrance from Afghanistan to Pakistan. People coming from Afghanistan transmit polio virus to people in Pakistan.
