GBLA unanimously passes two resolutions

The 22nd session of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) unanimously passed two resolutions in its session in Gilgit on Monday.

Speaker Fida Muhammad Nashad in chaired the session.

The first resolution demanded to launch ten days long children enrollment campaign in educational institutions before beginning of next academic year. The resolution was tabled by Jafarullah Khan.

The second resolution demanded of establishment of sports clubs in Gilgit Baltistan with the financial assistance of Banks to promote health support activities in the region.

It was jointly presented by members Sikandar Ali and Aurangzeb Khan.

Responding to a question during question hours regarding shortage of electricity senior Minister Muhammad Akbar Taban said the power demand in Gilgit is twenty five MW but the production is seven MW in winter.

Speaker while giving ruling on the subject directed him to improve electricity production by using all available resources and announce load shading timings to the public through Radio Pakistan. The newly elected opposition leader of the House Capt (R) Muhammad Shafi assumed his charge.

He thanked members of opposition as well as Government bench for showing confidence on him and assured to play a positive role. The House expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of sister of Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and mother of Member Nawaz Khan Naji and offered Fateha for the departed souls for eternal peace. The speaker adjourned the proceeding till tomorrow.
