Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and retired Captain Safdar were released from Adiala Jail on Wednesday evening. 

Earlier, order sheet was issued by Islamabad High Court for their release on bail in light of its verdict of suspending their sentences in Avenfield reference.

A large number of PML-N workers were present outside Adiala Jail to receive their leader.

IHC suspends sentences awarded to Nawaz, Maryam & Safdar in Avenfield reference

Islamabad High Court has suspended sentences awarded to Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and retired Captain Muhammad Safdar by Accountability Court in Avenfield reference and ordered to release them on bail.

A short judgement in this regard was delivered by the two-member Bench of the Court consisting of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb in Islamabad today upon appeals filed by the Sharif family.

The Court asked them to submit surety bonds worth five hundred thousand rupees each for their release on bail.

The bench ruled that their sentences would remain suspended till final adjudication of their appeals.

The Accountability Court had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to ten year rigorous imprisonment, Maryam Nawaz seven years and Muhammad Safdar one year on 6th of July this year.

They had filed petitions in Islamabad High Court for suspension of their conviction on 17th of July this year.
