
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining robust and forward-looking engagement with the United Kingdom as a longstanding strategic partner.
He was talking to UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, who called on him in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister recalled his warm and cordial telephonic conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer last month, wherein they had expressed a shared desire to further strengthen Pakistan-UK ties.
Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his best wishes for British Prime Minister.
The British National Security Adviser conveyed appreciation of the UK Government for Pakistan’s constructive role in regional diplomacy, including its ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue and de-escalation in the broader region.
He also expressed British Government’s strong interest in further expanding bilateral cooperation across security, trade, investment, and development sectors.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch.
