IIOJK: Martyrdom anniversary of Gaw Kadal massacre martyrs to be observed on Sunday
January 20, 2024

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thirty-fourth martyrdom anniversary of the martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre will be observed tomorrow.

Over fifty innocent people were martyred and hundreds others were injured when Indian troops had opened fire on peaceful protesters in Gaw Kadal area of Srinagar on January 21 in 1990.

The demonstrators were protesting against the molestation of several women by Indian troops in the area.

The illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Irfani, in their messages from jails paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal on the eve of their martyrdom anniversaries.

They also urged the Kashmiris to observe Indian Republic Day on 26th January as a Black Day to convey the message to the world that India's claims of being a democratic republic are hollow as it continues to deny them their right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, Modi-led Indian government has now started harassing the people to force them to give up their affiliation with pro-freedom organizations which proves its failure to subdue the Kashmiris' resolve for freedom by applying different brutal tactics.

Posters have also been prominently displayed reading the message that those having links with these Hurriyat organizations will be dealt with firmly.
