Ashfaq Yousuf Tola (Economist): I have been at key office holder at Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and our team of experts prepared a very comprehensive report to PDM government in the past. We covered all four major and crucial areas of economy in the report, like enhancing revenue collection, broadening of tax base, and others. However, it was election year therefore the said report could not be implemented.  Had that report implemented, almost all the issues related to revenue collection and economic stability could have been resolved. However, it is a positive development that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today inaugurated the FBR Performance Management System to ensure transparency and improve services of the Federal Board of Revenue. I think that today’s development is continuation of implementation of report compiled and presented by our team of experts. Moreover, it is a positive sign that our IT exports have also increased significantly and they can further be increased by several times because our IT companies possess the required potential in this regard. Through enhanced IT exports, our current account may remain in surplus in future.
