A peace conference will be held in Berlin today (Sunday) to facilitate a political solution to the Libya conflict.

According to media reports, Germany has invited Libya’s UN-recognized government, the eastern Libya-based commander Khalifa Haftar, and leaders from eleven countries, including Russia, Turkey, Italy, Egypt and United Arab Emirates.

Germany and the United Nations hope to persuade Russia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Egypt to push their opposing camps to agree on a lasting truce in Tripoli.
