Deputy Prime Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed all ministries to ensure strict adherence to austerity framework announced by the government in view of the evolving situation in the Middle East.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review implementation of austerity measures approved by the Prime Minister last month in consultation with the provinces.

Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of fiscal discipline amid prevailing economic challenges and called upon all ministries and divisions to demonstrate utmost responsibility and prudence in public expenditure and administrative decision-making.

The Cabinet Secretary briefed the committee on the status of various measures under implementation.

The committee also reviewed matters raised by different ministries and divisions in relation to these measures.
