President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to taking practical measures to eradicate poverty and promote development at both national and global levels.

In their separate messages on the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty today, both leaders emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable families from economic hardship and ensuring that every citizen has access to basic necessities and opportunities for a better life.

The President said Benazir Income Support Programme has been playing an important role in Pakistan's efforts to alleviate poverty by providing financial assistance to vulnerable families, particularly women.

The Prime Minister said government is facilitating access to affordable housing for citizens, through easy financing under the Prime Minister's Apna Ghar Scheme.
