India has slipped to 101st position from 94th position of the year 2020 in the Global Hunger Index 2021, out of total 116 countries.

A fresh report, prepared jointly by Irish aid agency Concern Worldwide and German organization Welt Hunger Hilfe, has termed the level of hunger in India as "alarming".

India's Global Hunger Index score has also decelerated from 38.8 in the year 2000 to 28.8 in the current year.

The report said that the share of wasting among children in India also rose from 17.1 percent to 17.3 percent between 2016-2020.
