Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said a comprehensive security plan is being developed to protect oil and gas exploration activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Minister Nazir Ahmed Abbasi in Islamabad.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said gas supply is under strain due to the conflict in the Middle East. He said distribution arrangements will be reviewed once the situation improves. He said public welfare must be kept above politics.

The Provincial Minister assured to extend full cooperation for the protection of exploration and production activities. He said increased oil and gas exploration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will boost provincial royalty revenue. He mentioned that success rate of wells in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exceeds the global average.

The Federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation for public welfare.
