
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said the government fully supports initiatives aimed at promoting financial inclusion and moving the country towards a cashless economy.
He was addressing the launch ceremony of Z-Wallet under JS Bank in Islamabad today.
The Minister appreciated the collaboration between Zong and Zindigi, JS Bank, aimed at promoting financial inclusion and facilitating citizens through technology-based financial services.
He said the initiative would bring together connectivity, technology and internet banking to make financial services more convenient for ordinary citizens.
Attaullah Tarar said the initiative would make it easier for citizens to access financial services through platforms they already use.
He assured government's full support for initiatives involving technology, telecom services, internet banking and financial inclusion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted the government's initiatives to promote digital economy.
He said the focus is on the adoption of digital payments, innovation and enabling technologies for this purpose.
The Minister highlighted some of the achievements against targets set for various sectors in promoting digital financial services.
He said it is being ensured that citizens have at least one option of digital payment for every People-to-Government payment, whether it be a toll tax, a motor vehicle license payment or bills.
