In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the decision by the Modi government to fleece the already poverty-stricken Kashmiri people in the name of installing prepaid smart meters has triggered protests.

One such big protest was held at Vikram Chowk in Jammu.

People hailing from different parts of the city blocked the highway for many hours and raised slogans against BJP rule and extortion in one way or another.

The protesters complained that the power department was sending exorbitant bills amounting to thousands of rupees to the consumers.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Vice Chairman, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, in a statement in Srinagar welcomed Pakistan’s unequivocal and consistent support to the Kashmiris.

He said, the Kashmiris are feeling strengthened and reinvigorated by the way the President, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief of Pakistan reiterated their support to their right to self-determination.

He urged the world to urgently intervene to stop the ongoing killings in the occupied territory.

Other Hurriyat leaders including Abdul Ahad Parra, Mir Shahid Saleem, Jameel Ahmad and Maulana Musaib Nadvi in their statements in Srinagar denounced the gross violation of Kashmiris’ fundamental rights by India in the territory.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, in a media interview in New Delhi, today, warned that India is on the brink of a civil war where “people are taking up guns and killing each other.

She blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing India to such situation saying that the BJP wants to create Godse's India.
