The spillways of Tarbela Dam have been opened.

This is expected to increase water flows in the downstream areas of Indus River.

The public has been advised to avoid recreational and tourism activities along the Indus River.

 They have been asked to stay away from waterways during periods of strong water flow.

A significant increase in water flow is expected in low-lying areas along the Indus River, particularly in Layyah, Bhakkar and Mianwali.

The rise in river discharge is attributed to rapidly melting glaciers due to increasing temperatures, as well as rainfall in the upper areas.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is continuously monitoring the situation, assessing potential risks in advance and ensuring the timely dissemination of necessary information to relevant authorities and the public.
