Senate continuing discussion on budget for next financial year

The Senate is continuing discussion on the budget for the next financial year.

Participating in the discussion, Mohammad Abdul Qadir expressed satisfaction over the economic indicators. He however emphasized the need for enhancing exports.

Abid Sher Ali said the civilian and military leadership have played an important role in bringing stability to Pakistan.

Azam Swati emphasized that special measures are required to stabilize the economy. He said the benefits of a strong economy will ultimately reach the common man.

Abdul Wasay said that more allocations should be made in the budget for water and road related infrastructure.

Poonjo Bheel said special focus should be given on the promotion of industrial sector, which will generate job opportunities for the youth. 

Hamid Khan said the budget contains nothing for the poor, adding that it will further widen economic inequality.

Agha Shahzaib Durrani commended the government for effectively managing petroleum supplies during the US-Iran tensions. He also expressed hope that petroleum product prices would decrease significantly following the signing of a US-Iran peace agreement.

Saifullah Abro called for unity to steer the country in the right economic direction and to free it from external loans.

Dost Ali Jeesar stressed the need for greater focus on power generation to curb loadshedding. He further said the FBR should set achievable tax targets.

Kamil Ali Agha appreciated the increase in the defence budget. He also urged the government to take measures to facilitate the poor segments of society.

Fawzia Arshad called for more development projects in the Islamabad Capital Territory to meet the civic needs of the residents of the federal capital.

Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan proposed the allocation of additional funds for the security forces to eliminate terrorism from the country.
