NA continues debate on Federal Budget

The National Assembly is continuing discussion on the budget for the next financial year.

Participating in the discussion, Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain said the business community and other segments of the society have appreciated the measures announced in the budget for the next financial year. He said incentives have been given to the export sector.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said the government is focused on uplift of the agriculture sector. He said it is our priority to enhance agri productivity and enhance profitability of farmers. 

He said the government has ensured stability in the supply and prices of Urea. He said PARC is being transformed with the cooperation of China. 

Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted potential of olive sector saying it is our target to enhance its exports to one billion dollars in the next few years.

The Minister for National Food Security also highlighted Pakistan’s mediation between Iran and the US, emphasizing this role will always be remembered in history.

Shazia Marri said the PPP has always moved forward in accordance with the spirit of Charter of Democracy. She said Benazir Income Support Program empowered the women and it has been recognized at the world level.

Gohar Ali Khan appreciated the role played by Pakistan for peace between Iran and the US.

Rana Ansar said no women welfare scheme has been included in the budget. She said salary increase of seven percent is not sufficient and it should be further enhanced.

Khurram Shahzad said renovation of public sector schools should be carried with provision of latest facilities and technology. He said quality education should be ensured in these schools through better trained teachers.

Naz Baloch emphasized the need for greater focus on dealing with the challenge of climate change as well as greater investment in Information Technology.

Riaz ul Haq welcomed relief measures for the construction sector saying it will help boost economic activity. He emphasized the need for taking the economic growth to six to seven percent.

Shafqat Abbas criticized the government’s economic and agriculture policies.

Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto said unnecessary expenditures should be reduced to enhance the size of federal PSDP.  She welcomed increase in the budget of Benazir Income Support Program.

Muhammad Numan said it is a growth oriented budget envisaging measures for the uplift of the industrial and agriculture sectors. He was confident that these measures would generate employment opportunities for the youth.
