Indian newspaper exposes Modi Govt's cruel anti-farmer policies
May 17, 2026

In India, Modi regime's flawed and cruel policies have led to severe economic hardships for all sections of society, including farmers and labourers.

India's own newspaper "The Telegraph India" has also exposed the Modi government's cruel anti-farmer policies.

According to "The Telegraph India", farmers from across Punjab gathered in Mohali to march towards the state assembly. The newspaper reported that Chandigarh police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protesting farmers. The police not only used force against the farmers, but also took some into custody.

The farmers' organization has claimed that some farmers have been injured during the resistance with the police.

According to the Indian newspaper, the farmers are protesting for minimum support price, solution of river water dispute and other issues.

Experts say the Indian state's suppression of farmers' march has once again made New Delhi's anti-farmer policies a topic of discussion at the global and local levels.

Expensive fertilizers, seeds, agricultural costs and corporate dominance in the Modi government are proof that the government's claims of farmer prosperity are just slogans.
