In Kashmir Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-led Indian government has deployed additional Indian troops in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Budgam districts ahead of another round of parliamentary elections on Monday. The actual aim of these extra security measures is to intimidate the Kashmiris into voting for those parties aligned with the Hindutva BJP. BJP did not directly field its candidates due to fear of a humiliating defeat. Meanwhile, senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was barred from attending a program in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of his father Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq in Rajouri Kadal area of Srinagar, today. Different programmes will be observed in IIOJK on Tuesday, to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal.

Additionally, All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar appealed the international community to play its role for release of thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders languishing in different jails of India and IIOJK.

He expressed serious concern over the continued illegally detention of Hurriyat leaders.
