The senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah has said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and holding of so-called election dramas in the region cannot change this fact.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail, said that elections can never be a substitute for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
He urged India to create a favorable environment for a durable and permanent settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute instead of staging so-called election dramas in the illegally occupied territory.
Shabbir Shah maintained the people of the territory have rejected the hollow slogans of Indian rulers and they are determined to continue their just struggle till achieving freedom from New Delhi’s illegal rule.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have imposed strict restrictions in Ramban district ahead of Lok Sabha election for the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
The district authorities also imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers in the district while the polling for the constituency will take place on Friday.
On the other hand, people staged protest against the death of a civilian inside an Indian army camp in Nowshera area of Rajouri district.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti speaking to reporters in Shopian said that hundreds of Kashmiri youth have been arrested and booked under draconian Public Safety Act ahead of the Indian parliamentary elections in IIOJK. She said that the entire territory has been turned into a jail and such an atmosphere of suffocation was prevailing that one cannot even breathe freely.
