APHC condemns ban on Hurriyat parties in IIOJK
March 17, 2024

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed the United Nations to pressure India to grant people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir their right to self-determination, as mandated by the international body.

APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rasheed Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, criticized the ban on Hurriyat parties, denouncing it as a form of political terrorism unleashed by the Indian government.

He said the Modi regime is pursuing a settler colonialism policy aimed at marginalizing the Kashmiri people in their own homeland.

Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti, in a statement, condemned the ongoing spree of dismissal of government employees, describing it as a blatant attempt to impoverish Kashmiris.

She characterized the dismissals as collective punishment intended to dispossess and disempower the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, central leader of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, expressed disappointment over the Election Commission's decision not to conduct Assembly elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He lashed out at the Modi government for the prolonged absence of the democratic process in the territory since 2014, contradicting New Delhi's claims of improved conditions in the territory.

Additionally, the Indian National Investigation Agency has filed a charge-sheet against two Kashmiris under the black law Unlawful Activities Prevention Act on the so-called charge of being involved in the Kashmir freedom movement.
