The United Nations' coordinator for humanitarian action and reconstruction in Gaza has termed the situation in the territory as a "significant catastrophe".

In a media briefing today, Sigrid Kaag said that the international community is collectively failing innocent civilians in the territory.

She said that the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies are not even meeting the needs for the civilians in Gaza.

She regretted that not much else can be improved until there is a complete ceasefire in Gaza.
