The United Nations has refused to take part in a U.S.-backed humanitarian operation in Gaza.

Deputy U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters in New York that this particular distribution plan does not accord with our basic principles, including those of impartiality, neutrality and independence.

The U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation will start work in Gaza by the end of this month.
