A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan Embassy in Washington to mark Youm-i-Tashakkur.

Addressing the ceremony, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said we bow down to Allah for this remarkable success.   

He said we are grateful to our armed forces who are the guarantors of freedom and pay tribute to those innocent people who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The Ambassador said unprovoked Indian aggression has reinstilled our spirit of nationhood as we fought this aggression with unyielding faith and conviction.   

He said the world bears witness to the fact that Pakistani nation always stands ready to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ambassador called for following in the spirit of operation Bunyanum-Marsoos to achieve economic progress and prosperity.
