Yousaf expresses commitment to promote interfaith harmony, religious tolerance

Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has expressed Pakistan's commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and religious tolerance.

He was talking to German Commissioner for Religious Freedom Thomas Rachel in Islamabad.

Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said the rights of all religions and minorities living in Pakistan are protected under the Constitution. He mentioned that a special cell has been established within the Ministry to prevent hate speech and anti-religious content on social media.

He highlighted that ten religious festivals of Pakistan’s non-Muslim communities are celebrated annually at the official level.

The Federal Minister further said that a dedicated fund has been allocated for the repair and restoration of places of worship belonging to non-Muslim communities.

Thomas Rachel said mutual respect and dialogue among religions are essential for global peace.

The two sides agreed to make joint efforts to promote interfaith harmony at the global level and reaffirmed their commitment to continue cooperation for the promotion of religious freedom, tolerance and mutual respect.
