Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced body-worn cameras for the police field force aimed at ensuring transparent and technology-driven policing.
In a statement, she said the body-worn cameras would strengthen monitoring of police operations and help prevent corruption and promote transparency in policing.
Body-worn cameras would be linked with Smart Safe City systems established in 43 cities across Punjab, enabling live monitoring through the respective district Safe City control rooms.
Personnel of Punjab Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, Dolphin Force and traffic wardens would wear the cameras while performing their duties.
