China has become the first country to name a new ambassador Zhao Xing to Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in 2021.

In a statement, Taliban said Zhao Xing's appointment is a sign for other nations to establish ties with Afghanistan.

China said its policy towards Afghanistan is clear and consistent and it will continue advancing dialogue and cooperation with the country.
