Siraj Durrani elected as new Speaker Sindh Assembly

Pakistan People's Party candidate Agha Siraj Durrani and Rehana Leghari have been elected as Speaker and Deputy speaker of Sindh Assembly respectively,

Agha Siraj Durrani, who was elected as speaker for the second consecutive time, defeated the opposition candidate, Javed Hanif.

Presiding Officer of the election, Mir Nadir Magsi administered oath to the newly elected Speaker.

Agha Siraj Durrani secured ninety-six votes while his opponent Javed Hanif got fifty-nine votes. Three votes were rejected.

Rehana Leghari, who was elected as Deputy Speaker of Sindh Assembly, secured ninety-eight votes out of total one hundred and fifty-eight votes. Rabia Azfar of joint opposition obtained fifty-nine votes. One vote was rejected.

Earlier, three more members of the provincial assembly took oath of their office.

Sindh Assembly to elect Leader of the House tomorrow

Sindh Assembly will elect Leader of the House tomorrow (Thursday). 

Pakistan Peoples Party which has emerged as majority party in the Sindh Assembly has once again nominated Syed Murad Ali Shah as Chief Minister.

Joint opposition has nominated Shahryar Mahar as their candidate for the slot.
