DPM assures to provide secure environment to oil, gas sector

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has assured full support to provide a secure and enabling environment for the oil and gas exploration and production sector.

He gave the assurance while chairing a meeting of the Committee on the Exploration and Production sector in Islamabad today. The Committee reviewed progress on key initiatives.

It was briefed about the ongoing offshore and onshore exploration activities, existing challenges, and reforms in the gas sector, including the completion of studies to support its long-term development.

The Deputy Prime Minister was briefed about the efforts to settle circular debt and optimize LNG supplies through indigenous exploration and production.

Appreciating the constructive contribution of all stakeholders, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need for enhanced coordination to address existing challenges expeditiously.

He reaffirmed that increasing domestic oil and gas production remains a key priority of the Government's energy security agenda.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Petroleum, Minister for Maritime Affairs, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Tariq Bajwa, senior officials from relevant ministries, and heads of leading exploration and production companies.
