The Election Commission of Pakistan has disqualified the Member of the National Assembly Jamshed Dasti over fake academic credentials.

The decision was made by a three-member bench of the Election Commission on two petitions, including a reference filed by the National Assembly Speaker, against Jamshed Dasti, seeking his disqualification.

The bench also declared the seat of Jamshed Dasti as vacant. The ECP bench further directed to initiate legal proceedings and to take follow-up action under Section 190(2) of the Elections Act 2017 and other relevant provisions of law.

The three member-bench of the Election Commission was headed by Nisar Ahmed Durrani, while  Shah Mohammad Jatoi and Justice (Retired) Ikram Ullah Khan as its members.
