In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party Harsh Dev Singh has alleged alarming rise in maltreatment and commission of atrocities against scheduled castes community in Ramnagar and Udhampur areas.

In a statement, he said despite unabated assaults, threats and misbehaviour with these people, especially with females, no cognizance whatsoever is being taken by police officers concerned in view of political influence wielded by the perpetrators of such offences.

He said police has succumbed to the dictates of some corrupt Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who are posing hindrances in the registration of FIRs against the said notorious characters indulging in atrocities against Dalits in the said areas.
