The anniversary of Radio Pakistan was observed on Friday as the national broadcaster came into being simultaneously with the creation of Pakistan. 

At the time of Pakistan’s creation, Radio Pakistan was known as the Pakistan Broadcasting Service. It came into being at midnight between August 13 and 14, 1947, simultaneously with the creation of Pakistan.

The first linking announcement in English about the creation of Pakistan was made by Zahur Azar a few seconds before midnight.

The first Urdu announcement about the creation of Pakistan was made by Mustafa Ali Hamdani at midnight between August 13 and 14, 1947.

Since its establishment, Radio Pakistan has been informing, educating and entertaining millions of people through its comprehensive network across the country as well as on social media platforms.
