Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called on the pharmaceutical industry to make Pakistan a competitive, innovation-driven and globally export-oriented pharmaceutical hub.

He was chairing a roundtable conference with pharmaceutical industry experts and stakeholders in Islamabad.

Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal and Prime Minister's Adviser on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan were also present.

Ahsan Iqbal proposed that the pharmaceutical industry conduct a one-month internal consultation and workshop involving all relevant stakeholders.

The exercise should identify the industry's priorities, challenges and future growth potential and produce a clear medium- and long-term roadmap extending to 2030 and beyond.

The Minister assured full support of the government to the pharmaceutical industry.

The sector roadmap presented at the roundtable sets out a progression from 457 million dollars in exports in fiscal year 2025 to a two-billion-dollar industry target, followed by three billion dollars through PharmEx within three years and ten billion dollars within eight years.
