Death anniversary of Arfa Karim observed

The 14th death anniversary of country’s computer prodigy Arfa Karim Randhawa was observed on Wednesday.  

She became the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Professional at the age of nine.     

Microsoft Corporation invited the young genius to America for a visit the same year following her achievement and she also represented Pakistan on various international forums.   

Arfa Karim was the recipient of Pride of Performance award as well as Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology.   

At the age of 16, Arfa Karim passed away on this day in 2012 in Lahore.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid rich tribute to Arfa Karim Randhawa, the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, on her death anniversary.

In a statement today, he said Arfa Karim was a shining symbol of the intelligence, talent, and immense potential of Pakistani youth. He said she brought global recognition to Pakistan at a very young age and proved that Pakistani youth are second to none.

Shehbaz Sharif further said Arfa Karim's achievements continue to serve as a beacon of guidance for the country's younger generation. He said her dream was to see a modern Pakistan equipped with knowledge and advanced technology.

The Prime Minister said it is a matter of pride that the Software Technology Park constructed in Lahore has been named after Arfa Karim Randhawa. He reaffirmed the government's resolve to transform her vision into reality by providing youth with opportunities in education, research, and technology.

The Prime Minister expressed heartfelt sympathies with Arfa Karim's parents and family members and prayed that Allah Almighty grants the departed soul a high place in heaven and enables the nation to follow in her footsteps.
