October 13, 2026

A parliamentary delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Balochistan Awami Party, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and Pakistan Muslim League (Z) called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister took the delegation into confidence regarding the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Shehbaz Sharif said that an impartial technocratic advisory council has been constituted to assist the Governor in improving the law and order situation, strengthening the economy and eliminating terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the conduct of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in the province and its reluctance to adopt a clear stance against terrorism posed risks to Pakistan's growing economy.

The Prime Minister said that the Federal Cabinet, through mutual consultation, decided to take constitutional steps under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.

He said that the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa neither explicitly condemned terrorism nor took any effective action against terrorists.

The Prime Minister said that over the past several years, scores of personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces, security forces and police embraced martyrdom and laid down their lives to defend the motherland.

He said that during the past thirteen years, the PTI and the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa neither launched any work for the welfare of the masses nor took ample steps to protect the lives and property of the people and only pursued a path of disorder.

The Prime Minister said that the Federal Government had provided over Rs800 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the National Finance Commission Award to eliminate terrorism.

He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to take effective steps for capacity building of the Counter Terrorism Department and establishing Safe City projects in the fight against terrorism.

On their part, the parliamentary delegation assured the Prime Minister that the coalition parties are standing firmly with the Federal Government in the prevailing situation.

The parliamentary delegation of the coalition parties also lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for providing guidance and leading the country in challenging circumstances.

The delegation said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been deprived of development in the fields of health, education and infrastructure during the thirteen years of PTI rule.

The parliamentary delegation expressed confidence that, with the support of the Federal Government, the journey towards development and prosperity would advance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, like in other parts of the country.
