Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has decided to initiate strict legal action against unregistered private educational institutions operating without lawful registration in Islamabad Capital Territory.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Authority held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah.
The Authority exercised powers under Section five of the ICT-PEIRA Act, 2013, after issuance of repeated legal notices, reminders, and public warnings through print and electronic media.
The meeting further decided that no private educational institution will be allowed to charge fees beyond the approved academic session of twelve months, either from April to March or August to July.
A dedicated complaint cell has also been established to facilitate parents and complainants.
The Authority also approved the implementation of the “Lighter School Bags Policy” across all private educational institutions in Islamabad Capital Territory.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Chairman ICT-PEIRA said the Authority is committed to ensuring transparency, lawful regulation, and promotion of quality education in private educational institutions for the facilitation of residents of Islamabad.
