Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Ambassador Masood Khan has described the recent Islamabad talks between the United States and Iran as a landmark diplomatic breakthrough, noting both sides chose dialogue over escalation.
In a statement, he said that Pakistan’s facilitation enabled meaningful engagement between Washington and Tehran, despite critical disagreements on key issues.
He noted that the talks did not collapse, and a temporary ceasefire remains in place, providing a fragile but crucial window for continued diplomacy.
Masood Khan said the parallel developments, including threats related to the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian oil infrastructure, could escalate tensions and widen the conflict.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to facilitating dialogue, expressing cautious optimism that sustained engagement can help achieve durable peace.
