In Afghanistan, increasing violence against journalists, arbitrary arrests and brutal censorship by Taliban regime have brought independent journalism to the brink of destruction.

Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) has expressed serious concern over the condition of journalists currently detained by the Taliban.

According to a statement issued by AMSO, the arbitrary arrests and illegal detention of journalists by the Taliban have further deepened the atmosphere of fear, pressure and insecurity.

The statement emphasized that the illegal detention of journalists violates all international agreements and civilized standards.
