Indian troops have intensified cordon and search operations, house raids and arrests across occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the garb of maintaining so-called peace ahead of Lok Sabha elections in the territory.

Indian troops, police and paramilitary personnel are conducting search operations and house raids in different areas of Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam and in Muslim-majority areas of Jammu region on a daily basis.

The residents of several areas told the media that the forces’ personnel abuse and harass the inmates, including women and children, during these operations.

Hundreds of youth have, so far, been arrested in the past one week in the occupied territory while many had been summoned to police stations where they were subjected to severe interrogation.

In a statement in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas termed the ongoing spree of operations and arrests in IIOJK as the worst form of political vengeance on the part of the Modi regime.

Meanwhile, posters have emerged at various places in Jammu region, urging people to wake up and foil BJP-RSS’ evil agenda of usurping their rights.

The posters said that under a well-thought-out plan the Hindutva government of India was snatching people’s land, jobs and identity and giving it to outsiders to alter the demographic composition of the region.
