Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has extended heartfelt greetings to the entire nation, especially the broadcasting community, on the occasion of World Radio Day.
In his message on the occasion of World Radio Day, he said Radio is a credible and effective medium of communication which has played a key role in nation-building, intellectual guidance and cultural harmony since the establishment of Pakistan.
The Minister said Radio Pakistan is an important pillar of our national identity. This institution has rendered historic services in agricultural guidance, environmental awareness, educational programmes and preservation of cultural heritage. Even today, Radio is an authentic and reliable source of timely dissemination of information to far flung areas.
Attaullah Tarar said this year, the theme of World Radio Day is "Radio and Artificial Intelligence", which highlights that modern technology, especially artificial intelligence, can play a significant role in synchronizing the broadcasting system more efficient, faster and more responsive to the needs of the audiences.
He said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is committed to modernizing Radio and making full use of digital technology.
Attaullah Tarar said he is happy to say that Radio Pakistan’s Museum, which was inaugurated by him last year, has become a vibrant educational and research centre for students across Pakistan.
He said it is a matter of pride for Radio Pakistan that local and foreign delegations are also visiting this Museum to learn about our broadcasting history and national heritage.
The Minister said Radio Pakistan is also going to set up a modern digital music studio soon, where young people with a passion for music, singers, boys and girls, and talented professional artists, who do not have musical instruments or professional resources, will be provided with modern recording facilities. This initiative will not only bring forward new talent but also give a new dimension to Pakistani music.
Attaullah Tarar said it is also a matter of satisfaction that modern podcast studios have been established in all stations of Radio Pakistan across the country. He said this initiative is an important milestone to take Radio towards innovation and providing quality content to the younger generation through digital means.
He added that the outreach of Radio is further expanding through the audio-visual programs recorded in these podcast studios and meaningful dialogue on new topics is being also being promoted.
The Information Minister reiterated the commitment that Radio Pakistan will be aligned with modern technology and artificial intelligence, so that this institution can continue its journey of national service in line with the demands of the future.
He also appreciated all the officers, broadcasters, engineers, producers and workers associated with Radio Pakistan for taking this national institution to new heights with their dedication and professionalism.
The Information Minister said let us we all renew our pledge to make Radio a strong medium of truth, responsibility, and national unity, while adapting it to modern day requirements.
Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil has reiterated commitment to make Radio Pakistan more vibrant, dignified and stable national institution through administrative transparency, professionalism and modern reforms.
In his message on the occasion of World Radio Day, he extended greetings to all the officers and workers of the national broadcaster.
Ashfaq Khalil said Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is honored to have two major national broadcasting organizations, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television, rendering their services.
He said since their inception, both the organizations have played a prominent role in raising public awareness, dissemination of information timely, promoting environmental awareness, promoting sports, literature and culture, and guiding the nation at every important stage of national life.
The history of Radio Pakistan also has a unique national service with respect to the 1965 War. The exciting way in which the Radio raised the morale of the nation during that crucial time and later in 1971 War, highlighted the achievements of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and united the entire nation, is a golden chapter in our broadcasting history.
The Secretary said the Ministry of Information is committed to synchronizing Radio Pakistan with modern requirements at the administrative level. Recently, Radio Pakistan has completely digitalized its pension system, which is a worthy example for other corporations to follow. This step has not only increased transparency, but also improved financial discipline.
Ashfaq Khalil said making Radio Pakistan financially stable is one of our priorities. He said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been providing financial support to Radio Pakistan in the past as well and appropriate financial support will continue in the future so that this national institution continues to perform its duties in an efficient manner.
The Secretary Information and Broadcasting said Radio Pakistan has proved itself capable of maintaining financial discipline and if the patronage of the Ministry continues, it will continue to grow as a strong and exemplary corporation.
