UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on all member states to uphold the vision and values of UN Charter and rule of law in particular. 

He was speaking at a Security Council meeting on promotion and strengthening of rule of law in maintenance of international peace and security.

He said all states are accountable before the law because rule of law protects the vulnerable, and prevents discrimination, harassment and other abuses.

He warned that we are at grave risk of the Rule of Lawlessness.

The UN Chief said primacy of rule of law is essential to the maintenance of international peace and security and for peace building efforts.
