Pakistan, Uzbekistan agree to fast-track expanded PTA

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to fast-track expanded Preferential Trade Agreement and elevate bilateral trade to two billion dollars within the next two years.

The agreement was reach during a meeting between Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industry, Ihsaan Afzal and Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shohrukh Gulamov, in Tashkent.

Ihsaan Afzal emphasized the urgent need to establish digital connectivity to reduce delays and enhance trade predictability.

He highlighted the importance of real-time cross-border data exchange.

Shahrukh Gulamov said technical teams are working expeditiously to operationalize an Electronic Data Interchange system between the relevant authorities of Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Both delegations agreed to intensify business-to-business contacts and exchange of trade delegations to translate political will into concrete commercial results.
