The 61st martyrdom anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.

During Indo-Pak war of 1965, as a company commander in the Burki area of Lahore sector, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti chose to stay with his forward platoon which was under incessant artillery and tank attacks.

Throughout, undaunted by constant fire from enemies', he organized the defence of the BRB canal along with his brave soldiers.

He was struck in the chest by an enemy tank shell and embraced martyrdom on this day in 1965.
