Pakistan, Turkiye exchange views on women's rights

Turkiye's Minister for Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Gökta called on Minister for Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views in detail on women's rights, strengthening of the family system and promotion of social security.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation on protecting the family system, promoting children's and women's rights and joint policy initiatives in the digital space.

During the meeting, Pakistan and Turkiye agreed to further consolidate family welfare, women's rights, social security and institutional cooperation, exchange experiences and advance the joint projects.

Pakistan and Turkiye also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of family, social services and social security. Both the countries reiterated their commitment to promote joint ventures.

Meanwhile, Azam Nazeer Tarar also held a detailed meeting with Azerbaijan's Head of the Administrative Division of the OIC Labour Centre Jalila Allahverdiyeva.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister highlighted that Islam has granted women the respect, equality, and fundamental rights and it is the collective responsibility of the Muslim Ummah to ensure the protection and promotion of these rights.

The Minister for Human Rights said Pakistan is actively pursuing priority measures for women's development. He said women are playing a prominent role in Pakistan's politics, parliament, the judiciary, education, business, and various other sectors.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote joint ventures under the OIC platform to empower women, provide social security, and enhance capacity-building.
