The 51st death anniversary of renowned broadcaster, poet and first Director General of Radio Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bukhari, is being observed today.

He was born in 1904 in Peshawar.

Zulfikar Bukhari began his career with All India Radio, and after the creation of Pakistan, became the first Director General of Radio Pakistan.

After his retirement from Radio Pakistan, he became the first General Manager of Pakistan Television's Karachi Centre in 1967.

He authored several books, including his renowned autobiography 'Sarguzasht', and a book on music titled 'Jo Kuchh Main Ne Kaha'.

He passed away on this day in 1975 in Karachi.
