IIOJK: Shutdown to be observed on Wednesday to mark 13th July 1931 Kashmir Martyrs' Day
July 12, 2022

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed on Wednesday to mark the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the strike is the final programme of the Martyrs’ Week.

Call for the strike has been given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by all pro-freedom organizations to commemorate the martyrdom of 22 Kashmiris by the forces of Dogra ruler on July 13, in 1931.

People will assemble at the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib, in Srinagar to offer Fateha for the departed souls.

These twenty two Kashmiri martyrs were part of thousands of people assembled outside Central Jail, Srinagar, on July 13, in 1931 during the court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer, who had asked the people to defy the Dogra rule.

At the time of Namaz-e-Zuhr, a young man started Azaan and was shot dead by the Dogra soldiers. Another took his place and he too was martyred by the troops. 22 youth lost their lives till the Azaan was completed.

In a statement, All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the fresh killing spree unleashed by Indian troops in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC leadership said the sacred blood of the Kashmiri martyrs has ignited the candle of freedom in Jammu and Kashmir.

They urged the OIC Secretary General and the UN Chief to force New Delhi to stop its state terrorism in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions.

The APHC leaders said the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir for freedom would not be allowed to go waste.

Meanwhile, Indian troops continued their cordon and search operation on the second consecutive day, today, in Reban area of Shopian district. The occupation authorities suspended mobile internet service in the area.
