Federal Govt approves construction of Khyber Pass Economic Corridor from Peshawar to Torkham

Government has accorded approval to the establishment of Khyber Pass Economic Corridor from Peshawar to Torkham Border.

This was stated by Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri in a statement.

He said the corridor will be built at a cost of 65 billion rupees and usher into an economic revolution in the area.

The 48 km project will comprise four lane expressway and an industrial zone.

Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri said the project which will be completed through joint collaboration between World Bank and Pakistan and will provide job opportunities to one hundred thousand people.

The Minister said this project is expected to be completed by 2024. He said the construction of section from Torkham to Kabul Highway will be undertaken by Afghan government.

He said the corridor will link Central Asia with South Asia through Afghanistan and will be guarantor of prosperity of the tribal people as well as further boosting Pak-Afghan relations.
