Armed Forces fulfilled promise with nation against India's blatant aggression: DG ISPR
May 12, 2025

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said the Armed Forces of Pakistan fulfilled the promise made with the people against India’s blatant and dastardly aggression.

He was addressing a news conference along with Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations), Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz in Rawalpindi on Sunday night.

He shared details of the conduct and conclusion of “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos” of Pakistan Armed Forces in response to Indian military’s dastardly attack on the night of the 6th and 7th of this month that resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives including women, children and elderly.

The DG ISPR said twenty-six military targets along with facilities in India that were used to target Pakistani citizens and entities involved in fomenting terrorism in Pakistan, were engaged in both Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and also mainland India during “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos”.

He said Pakistan’s response was a “textbook demonstration” of integrated tri-services, enabled by real-time situational awareness, network-centric warfare capabilities and seamless multi-domain operations.  This synergy across air, land, sea and cyber domains allowed for precision engagements, overwhelming lethality and rapid tempo.

He said Pakistan used precision-guided long range long-range Fatah-1 and Fatah-2 missiles of the Pakistan Army, precision munitions of PAF, highly capable long range loitering killer munitions and precision long range artillery.

He said these targets included Air Force and aviation bases at Suratgarh, Sirsa, Nalia Adampur, Bhatinda, Barnala, Halwara, Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur, Mamoon, Ambala and Pathankot, all of which sustained major damages. BrahMos storage facilities at Beas and Nagrota were also destroyed which had fired missiles on Pakistan killing our innocent civilians including children. The S-400 system at Adampur was also attacked by our proud PAF.

He further said that military logistics and support sites like field supply depot Uri and Radar Station  Poonch, which helped sustain this unlawful operation against innocent Pakistanis,  were also targeted.

The DG ISPR said military Command Headquarters including 10 Brigade and 80 Brigade at KG Top and Nowshehra, which helped plan the operational killing of our children, was also destroyed.

He said the facility which harbored and trained proxy elements that perpetrated terrorist attacks inside Pakistan were specifically identified and destroyed. These include intelligence fusion support units and its forward field elements at Rajauri and Nowshehra.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said across the Line of Control, military elements including headquarters, logistics bases, artillery position and posts that had caused civilians casualties in Azad Jammu and Kashmir through unprovoked artillery and small arms fire were relentlessly targeted and heavily damaged until they raised a white flag and asked for restraint. He said India used drones to violate Pak airspace to intimidate our civilians and spread fear.

Under the  “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, dozens of Pakistani Armed drones hovered over Indian major cities and sensitive political and government facilities including capital Delhi,  from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir all the way upto Gujarat.

He said that around eighty four Indian drones were shot down. He said we had promised that anything sent toward us would not go back, and we kept that promise.

He said Pakistani Armed Forces also carried out comprehensive and effective cyber offensive to temporarily cripple and degrade critical infrastructure and services that were being used by Indian forces to sustain their operations.

The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s Armed Forces possess an adequate suite of very sophisticated niche military technologies, only some of which were used with restraint in this conflict and there are many more such capabilities being kept as future surprises.

Compared to India’s relentless provocation, He said Pak military response has been precise, proportionate and still remarkably restrained, it was carefully calibrated to avoid civilian casualties and exclusively targeted only those entities and facilities which were directly involved in orchestrating and executing cold blooded killing of Pak civilians and those carrying out terrorist attacks inside Pak.

He said “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos”, launched to thwart Indian unprovoked military aggression against Pakistan, is a great example of unity of all elements of national power with overwhelming support of the Pakistani public.

He said Pakistan had vowed justice for reprehensible Indian military aggression and brutal killings of our civilians. He said we bow our heads before Allah Almighty with utmost humility for enabling us to translate our resolve into the decisive actions in the battlefield.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry expressed sympathies with the heirs of families of Shuhada, who sacrificed their lives for the beloved country, and prayed for quick recovery of the injured countrymen.

The DG ISPR also extended heartfelt gratitude to every officer, soldier, airmen and sailor of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, who made the success on the battlefield possible through their courage professionalism and sacrifice.

Expressing profound appreciation and gratitude to the brave Pakistani nation, he said the moral strength, resolve and above all wholehearted support and prayers of the nation remained unwaveringly with the Armed Forces of Pakistan during these testing times.

The DG ISPR, appreciating the role of youth, said the Armed Forces of Pakistan are especially indebted to the youth, who became the frontline soldiers as information and cyber-warriors of the country.

Thanking the responsible role of Pakistani media, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said our vibrant media also stood like “Bunyan-un-Marsoos” -  a steel wall -  against the Indian media’s fuming as well as war mongering.

The DG ISPR said the Armed Forces of Pakistan are also extremely grateful to the political leadership of all political parties, without any distinction, for unified resolve in support of their Armed Forces for the defence of the motherland.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, specifically thanked the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and cabinet minister for taking destiny-changing decisions and steering the country through this critical situation.

Replying to a question about ceasefire, the DG ISPR clarified that Pakistan never requested the ceasefire. He said on the night of May 6 and 7, after those dastardly and cowardly attacks were made, Indians requested while Pakistan gave a very clear response that we will communicate back only after we have given the response that this act deserves. He said so on May 10, after the response, and on the request and intervention of international interlocutors, we responded to the already made request of the Indians.

Responding to another question, he said Pakistan Armed Forces are not violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control.  He said we are a professional army and we strongly abide by the commitments we make and follow by letter and spirit the orders of the government.

Answering a question, the DG ISPR said the conflict has put Kashmir as a flashpoint and it needs to be resolved.

To another query regarding Indus Water Treaty, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the  government’s position on the Indus Waters Treaty is absolutely clear.

The DG ISPR said Pakistan will not be cowed by the military might of its adversary. He said we had assured our nation that a decisive response will be delivered on our own terms, at a time and place of our choosing.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations), Air Vice Marshal, Aurangzeb Ahmed said PAF gave befitting response and neutralized key threats of the enemy.

He said Pakistan's air defence system is a multi-layered setup, designed to protect its airspace against hostile threats, including aircraft, drones, and ballistic or cruise missiles.

He said Pakistan continues to enhance its air defense, especially in response to regional threats and primarily from India.

Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed said Pakistan’s air defence is optimized to detect stealthy targets as well as both fast and slow-moving aerial threats like jets, drones, or cruise missiles.  The system is equally capable against slow-speed aerial platforms such as loitering drones and helicopters.

He further said Pakistan’s air defence is modern, layered, and optimized to neutralize both stealthy and high-speed aerial threats, playing a crucial role in the country’s deterrence and sovereignty protection.

The Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations) said Pakistan Air Force has demonstrated its robust capability to monitor in real-time the launch, mid-flight, and terminal phases of enemy surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs) and long-range vehicles (LRVs).

He said equipped with advanced radar systems and cutting-edge intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance technology, Pakistan’s air defence network is optimized to detect stealthy, low radar cross-section (RCS) targets, as well as both fast and slow-moving aerial threats such as fighter jets, drones, and cruise missiles.

Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed said this technological strength ensures that the Pakistan Air Force remains ever-ready to safeguard the country’s airspace with unmatched precision and vigilance.

Briefing the media persons regarding Naval Operations that were part of “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos”, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz said with the help of Almighty Allah, Pakistan successfully defended its maritime frontiers. He said Pakistan Navy maintains perpetual readiness throughout the year, and its transition from peace to war is swift.

Referring to the aftermath of the false flag operation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said the Navy immediately mobilized and completed the operational deployment of fleet units within hours.

Vice Admiral Rab Nawaz affirmed that the Navy is fully prepared to thwart any aggression from the sea. He emphasized that maritime domain awareness is critical for naval operations. He Pakistan Navy monitored the movement of INS Vikrant, which had been deployed to a location of 400 nautical miles from Karachi. However, it later retreated closer to Mumbai.

He further said that Pakistan Navy, in cooperation with the Pakistan Air Force, was ready to deliver an appropriate response if Indian Navy Ship, Vikrant had initiated any hostile action. He said Pakistan Navy was also prepared to respond to any missile attack from the sea.

Vice Admiral Rab Nawaz added that the Pakistan Navy’s Coastal Command units were also deployed to safeguard the creek areas. He said we ensured the protection of all ports and harbors, which remained operational for trade activities.
