The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the Indian government is using the Lok Sabha elections to conceal its atrocities and mislead the international community about the grim human rights situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar highlighted India's excessive military presence of over 1,100,000 troops in the UN-mandated disputed territory, treating civilians as enemies.

Minhas praised resilience of detained Hurriyat leaders and urged the United Nations to address the humanitarian crisis by resolving the Kashmir dispute.

As per a fresh report by Al Jazeera, the livelihoods of millions of Kashmiris, heavily reliant on apple farming in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir are under threat due to a controversial railway project.

Meanwhile, Indian troops arrested two more youth during cordon and search operations in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. The detained youth were booked under black law Public Safety Act.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh in a statement criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Udhampur district of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the BJP has suspended democracy and refused to hold fresh elections.

On the other hand, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again taken up the killing of top Khalistani Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar by Indian intelligence agencies on Canadian soil last year.
