Acting Chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, says the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been facing serious restrictions on their fundamental rights, political freedoms and freedom of expression.
He made these remarks in a letter addressed to the President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr Khalilur Rahman.
The Acting Chairman said reports of continued arrests, prolonged detentions and restrictions on political activities are a matter of grave concern.
Meanwhile, President of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti said that unemployment in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is nearly 38 percent.
Speaking at a party programme in Srinagar, she said the authorities had failed to generate adequate employment and address growing economic distress among the people.
