Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari says multiple measures are being implemented to alleviate unnecessary financial burdens on power consumers.
He was talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Business Council, led by Chief Executive Officer Javed Kureishi in Islamabad today.
The Minister said reducing losses across distribution companies over the past two years has yielded savings of two hundred and sixty-five billion rupees.
Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said boosting electricity demand, ensuring efficient utilization of available generation capacity, and lowering power sector costs remain central to the government's reform agenda.
He said the feasibility studies for converting imported coal-based power plants to local coal have been completed.
